I was given a gift: Music. And I want to Play it Forward – play to connect, to inspire, to heal, and to cure. This summer I will be 4 years cancer-free. Through my work as an advocate for breast cancer awareness, I came across the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which has already donated more than 5.38 million dollars to research, and towards trials that are desperately needed for those living with metastatic disease.  And they do this with only 7 employees, many of which I met last month in Raleigh.  Pink Ribbons and Awareness aren’t coming close to solving the problem.  We need better treatments, and we need a cure.  The proceeds of my tour this year go directly to their cause, which is my cause and my passion: ending cancer.

I’m gearing up to kick off the “Play it Forward” tour (which benefits the Kay Yow Cancer Fund) on May 18th at La Mexicana in Gaithersburg, MD. I will be traveling all over the US through November to cities specifically chosen by my amazing FANS. We used the platform Road Nation to support the cause, which you can check out here:  https://www.roadnation.com/campaigns/94  The Campaign store is still open if you’d like to purchase a VIP or Roadie experience, or exclusive tour merchandise like postcards from the road or truck stop souvenirs. Purchasing items will help offset the costs of touring.

I’d like to thank everyone who supported me on #RoadNation to fund the Play it Forward Tour at 108%! Because you guys went above and beyond, I’ve extended my tour through Fall so that I can get to as many cities as possible that you’ve put on my map. If you are interested in hosting a House Concert, hit me up ASAP as my year is booking up fast.

SO excited to meet many of you on the road, and raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund at each and every show. Big hugs to you all and thanks again from the bottom of my heart,

Cindy aka p-nut

“It’s the way of the world, or maybe it’s just me… I only survive when I love relentlessly”

~ Cindy Alexander

The word “Survivor” comes up a lot in a my life. Usually other people introduce me that way and at first, it felt so awkward. Then I owned it. And now, I’m kind of over it. Any of us who wakes up on January 1, 2017 SURVIVED 2016. We have all overcome obstacles, whether they be physical, emotional, psychological, or spiritual. So in essence, we are all survivors. But I really want to go into 2017 as so much more. Surviving implies a battle against the odds. I’m much more than surviving. I’m thriving. I’m living and loving and manifesting my dreams. Yeah, I have my moments that aren’t so blissful. But underneath the hurt, frustration or anger is always the knowledge that I am blessed. I am surrounded by an incredible support system that includes a loving family, loyal friends, genius professionals and creative soul mates. I am happy to say goodbye to 2016, but I take with me immense gratitude that only grows deeper. Wishing you all a Healthy and Happy New Year full of peace ~ in your hearts and in the world, prosperity and beautiful music. Love, Cindy

The sound of the holidays is nostalgic, heart-warming and hopeful.  Admittedly, I was taken aback when I heard Jingle Bells before Thanksgiving….but I guess some of us are anxious to put 2016 behind us? 😉   My amazing label Blue Élan Records has put together a new and improved 2016 edition of  “A Blue Élan Christmas” with contributions from my very talented label mates, available on iTunes. Track two is still my cover of “Christmas is Here” (which charted last year!) produced by Dave Darling, but this year we also added my cover of Dave Matthew’s “Christmas Song” (you won’t recognize it…) produced by Colin Devlin (track 18).

cover_christmasishereOne of my favorite holiday songs of all time is Joni Mitchell’s “River” – I did a cover of it, which is available on my 2014 “Christmas is Here” EP, also available on iTunes.  This EP also contains my cover of Survivor’s “Christmas is Here” and my original tune “For Auld Lang Syne.”

CLICK HERE  for the a lyric video of  my version of “River”  by my friend Tom Le, who requested that I cover the song in the first place!  Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for making me part of your holiday soundtrack.  XO Cindy
